All about

Clarke College, IA

Clarke University, founded in 1843, is a small liberal arts college in Dubuque, Iowa, that places great emphasis on volunteering and giving back to the community. The Catholic-affiliated school was ranked number 18 in Midwest schools by U.S. News and World Report, and its high rank is exemplified in the success of graduates finding work in their field. Approximately 95 percent of Clarke grads from the past five years are working in their desired field or pursuing higher education.

Students can pursue associate's, bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees at Clarke. Popular majors include Nursing, Education, Business Administration, Biology and Psychology. One of the benefits of attending Clarke is small class sizes. The college boasts a student to faculty ratio of just 10 to one, so enrollees know they will get individualized attention from their professors. More than three quarters of the classes have fewer than 20 students.

When it comes to living options, a little more than half of Clarke students choose to reside in college housing, and the rest seek off campus living opportunities in the city of Dubuque. This city is right on the shores of the Mississippi River and next door to both Wisconsin and Illinois. Students can check out the indoor water park or enjoy outdoor activities along the Mississippi. There are also plenty of restaurants, shopping opportunities and landmarks in Dubuque. Those who would prefer to find a student apartment with a view of the river have the option of seeking university housing on either side of the river, while still being close by the Clarke campus.
