Ashford University, a private institution founded in 1918, offers more than 50 degree programs which students can complete online or at the Clinton, Iowa campus. Enrollees can choose to live on campus or find student living opportunities in the city. There are more than 57,000 students enrolled at the college, but since many of them pursue their degrees online, those who attend classes in person will likely find smaller class sizes.
The school offers bachelor's degree programs in business, education, liberal arts and health and human services. Ashford places emphasis on providing an affordable and well-rounded education to all those seeking to learn and earn a degree while also helping with their personal growth and preparing them for careers in the fields of their choosing. When students aren't attending classes or studying in their university housing, they are free to participate in any of the school's student organizations, such as cheerleading, choir, the fine arts club, student government and even the Ping Pong Association.
Ashford's athletic teams, The Saints, have a lovable Saint Bernard as a mascot, and students can cheer on their friends at basketball, baseball, soccer and tennis games. There is also a bowling team as well as cross country and track and field.
Students can head to downtown Clinton and check out some of the city's restaurants, go shopping or spend time at any of the numerous parks. Clinton is located right along the MIssissippi River, which means there are plenty of opportunities to go boating or play a friendly game on the banks of the river. This also means there are plenty of off campus housing opportunities for those who would prefer to live on their own.
