The University of Evansville, established in 1854, is a four-year college that offers more than 80 degrees in the sciences and liberal arts. The university is strongly affiliated with the United Methodist Church, so religion plays a major role in the overarching education of all UE students. Enrollees who want to experience student living in another country will be able to do so at UE, since the college has a satellite campus, Harlaxton College, in the United Kingdom. The college has plenty of other international study options as well.
The college boasts a student to faculty ratio of 14 to one, and more than half of all classes have fewer than 20 students. Popular major choices include Business, Social Sciences, Visual and Performing Arts, Health Services and Exercise Science. There are many other offerings, so students will be able to find the right path toward their futures. When they're not in class or studying in their university housing, students can go out to a game and watch their friends compete. The UE Purple Aces compete in the NCAA Division I athletic conferences in basketball, swimming, golf, soccer, volleyball, tennis, baseball and softball.
Evansville is the third largest city in Indiana, so students will have no trouble finding an off campus apartment near the college. Roughly one third of UE enrollees choose to forego university living and find a place to live in the city. Evansville has plenty to offer. Students can visit the Mesker Park Zoo during the day and check out the casinos and other nightlife options when the sun goes down. St. Louis and Nashville are each a few hours away from the college, providing the opportunity for fun weekend trips.
