I can't wait to move out.
Internet: You pay $55/month and (literally) can barely get 3 Mbps (not much faster than dial up). This is WHEN it works, as it's a shared WiFi network that requires logins at least a half dozen times per day as it forgets your sessions. Real fun when you're trying to watch a movie or play games online. Property management does little more than give you the number for the company THEY selected who calls during business hours to fix (when I'm working). The building is not wired for anything else so this is your ONLY option. Can't use any WiFi-based smart devices.
HVAC: It's is a shared system for which you pay a comically high "utility fee". The system is sized wrong so if it's anything other than temperate outside the system can't keep up. There was a stretch where my apartment couldn't get above 64 degrees and property management did nothing. Had to buy a space heater to keep my bedroom warm at my cost as electric isn't included.
Parking: $40 per parking spot, yet they don't monitor the lot. Good luck finding a spot whenever there's anything going on downtown or at the Morris. They love to leave passive aggressive notes in the elevator scolding residents for using the spots "reserved for the coffee shop and bar".
Smoke alarms: On a hair trigger and located poorly. I can't even turn my oven on past 350 without having every fan on and multiple windows open. Forget trying to pan fry or sear anything. And definitely don't open your door if there's ANY smoke; it will set off the building wide fire alarms for an evacuation (6 evacuations in the last year).
Toilets: Loud power flush, like at a school. No clogs, but also will wake the dead if you flush them at night.
Windows: Single pane, some original. Loud and leaky. Like being outside when there's a strong wind.
Save your money. Look ANYWHERE else. It sounds great before you move in but calling (and pricing) it luxury is a total joke.
Beautiful old building and incredible views! The cafe and bar in the lobby add a fun down town feel. The down side to this apartment building has lots of drama between residents and owners. Apartment checks happen multiple times every month and notifications are not always given.
Such a great building. Nicely built, awesome kitchen.
Nice place quality is good
