The building is well kept and maintenance requests are dealt with quickly (generally the same day the request is submitted).
Heard from a pal that the property is well kept, fair rent and mostly good people.
We moved in so excited for our "cool, downtown loft". Instead we got a tiny, overpriced dump - where the maintenance never seemed to get our requests, we heard our neighbors every move, and we were heavily charged for carpets that were dirty when we moved in ... despite numerous attempts for them to be cleaned.
Lived here for a year and couldn't get out soon enough.
Sure this place looks awesome, which is what draws people to it. My roommate and I fell in love with the armory and signed up to be on the waiting list. When we were finally assigned an apartment the leading lady couldn't tell us anything about it. Is there a microwave? I don't know. Are their ceiling fans? Maybe. Etc. then we get in and the place is falling apart. They do a move in inspection with you and promise to fix everything that's not right - when you call two weeks after move in to ask about the repairs they say they won't fix anything. The maintenance is awful. When you put in a request forget putting more than one thing that needs fixed - he'll fix the first thing on the list and disregard the rest. Every time! They claim they can't fix little things or just duct tape it claiming that's the best they can do. Did I mention how paper thin the walls are? No? My neighbor must have allergies because I hear him sneeze all day.
Want a place that looks cool. The armory is your place - but that's all you'll get and it'll cost an arm and a leg.
I love my apartment and building--its unique layout is just what I was looking for. The office staff at times can be challenging/inflexible to work with, even though residents are expected to be flexible (e.g., no access to apartment during large blocks of time because of floor maintenance). The maintenance man is great--always friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Also, I would love having a more equipped workout room (not many options currently).
