What Renters Like and Dislike

What Renters Like and Dislike About Franklin College

We are a block from the river. We can get to the park by walking through our back yard. Everyone is quiet and respectful.

It is close to everything. It is family friendly, and a very quiet neighborhood. I live in a townhouse so there are always people around.

It's in a historical district. It has pizza shops, chinese restaurants and bars as well as a brewery and a well know breakfast biscuit restaurant. My friends like to gather at the brewery and eat at the breakfast bisquit place.

My rent is real cheap, so is everyone elses. There isnt any stores up here but down the hill are two convienence stores side by side, and there is a pond for fishing within a mile.

I like going outdoors with my family. Going out to eat or going out to shop and waste time. I also love just doing things to fill the day.

There are apartments and a little mart with an Indian guy who is the cashier and a pizza place and donut

All About

Living in Franklin College, IN

Franklin College, founded in 1834, became the first higher learning institution in Indiana to allow women to enroll in 1842. The college is now one of the best liberal arts schools in the Midwest, as U.S. News and World Report ranks it number 13 in this category. FC's mission is to prepare its students to lead productive lives with strong roots in excellence, leadership and service. The school is affiliated with the American Baptist Church, and offers 36 different routes to obtaining a bachelor's degree.

Students can choose to join Greek houses, live in university housing or seek an off campus apartment. The majority of FC students choose to live on campus, but about one third opt for a college apartment in Franklin or downtown Indianapolis. Indianapolis is close enough that those who prefer living in an urban atmosphere can do so while still attending the school. There are plenty of student activities and clubs that will keep students busy regardless of where they choose to live.

Just south of Indianapolis, Franklin is a small suburban town. This allows students to have a quiet setting perfect for hitting the books before a big exam. When the semester draws to an end, FC students may want to take advantage of their free time. Indianapolis is about a half hour drive from Franklin, making it easy for students to check out some of the state capital's attractions or even find off campus housing. They can walk or bike down the Indianapolis Cultural Trail, which connects all five of the city's downtown cultural districts.
