Decent living for college students. Expect your neighbors to be college students and have that sort of living arrangement. Other than that the staff is great and maintenance is wonderful.
I have lived at Terra Trace for four years as a student attending IU, and I have loved living in this community. It's close to a bus stop, and is only about 20 minutes on foot to Kirkwood/The Sample Gates. This makes walking to campus or downtown very convenient. At Terra Trace, you're also within walking distance to a CVS, some fast food and Chinese restaurants, and within a 5 min drive to the nearest Kroger. My favorite part of living at Terra Trace is the unique wood paneling on all of the buildings, as well as the fact that the apartment complex is surrounded by trees. Each unit has a small patch of grass out front with bushes and trees, and the courtyard containing the pool also has plenty of trees which provide nice shade on a hot day. The grounds are very attractive and are a unique feature of Terra Trace in Bloomington!
These units may be a bit older then some other apartments in town, but don't let that stop you from taking a look. The interior units receive fresh paint and steamed carpets before you move in. Whenever I've called maintenance to fix an issue (usually a jammed drawer in the kitchen), it is usually taken care of within 24 hours, if not the same day. There is also emergency maintenance on call during the evenings and weekends.
As a bonus, the office manager, Tina, is absolutely lovely and bakes fresh cookies regularly to serve in the office. Terra Trace is a great community and is incredibly affordable (bonus: graduate students receive a reduced rent fee). I can't recommend the location enough!
Everyone is always very nice when i go in and talk to them.very willing to help solve any problems i might have.
I love the size of the apartments and the location is amazing for getting to class and sporting events. The only thing I would change is to have washers and dryers in each unit rather than in the main building.
Terra Trace has always been willing to come and help whenever we have problems at our apartment. My complaints have been with having the same problems occur. Our AC and heat would go out and we were always told that we were "Freezing the pipes," however, the last time they finally told us it was nothing we did or did not do- it was because the equipment was broken and they had just been patching it enough for it to work for the time being instead of actually fixing and replacing it. Additionally we have had problems with our dishwasher and sink pipes not draining properly, but again the problem comes and goes without clear resolving of the issue at hand. Overall, staff is very nice and willing to help. They are understanding of life situations and will do all they can to help and support from their roles.
Parking is generally fine, with exceptions of during big events such as home football games and the Little 500. During this time, the parking lot is not well maintained and often there are cars without permits taking up spots. I wish Terra Trace was better at patrolling parking during these times.
The pool is generally nice and clean; however, it was rarely open this past summer.
