Hunter Ridge

The place is ok but everything is too old. Everything is breaking and you get tired of calling maintaince.

Hunter Ridge is a hidden gem in the Bloomington apartment landscape. The property is older and less modern than what many younger students look for, but it has been very well maintained and offers a great deal of value for graduate and professional students. Both management and the maintenance team works very diligently and proactively to address any and all issues, updates, and improvements that need to be made. The apartment homes themselves are very clean and quite large for the dollar, and it is rare in Bloomington to find an apartment community with optional covered parking that is affordable ($15 a month per spot, limit 1 per unit). Its also a very convenient commuting location as there is a major bus stop directly across the street with a return location at the end of the block that takes you directly to IUs campus. I have been here three years as of fall 2023 and recently re-signed for a fourth year because the value for dollar, convenience, and good management is such a rare combination in this town!

I understand that this is move-in week and your office staff is likely overwhelmed. The offices I work on are, as well, but there is never an excuse to be so rude. Learn some professionalism or seek a new career.

Overall, I've been very happy with my time here at Hunter Ridge. The full-time staff, Gary and Davida are fantastic people, always very helpful, friendly, and professional. The apartments are also in a great location for getting around Bloomington and for getting to IU quickly/easily. The best part of my apartment is the view from the balcony, it faces back to a nice neighborhood filled with trees, we frequently see deer, birds, and other animals from the balcony. That being said, the management needs to seriously invest in renovations, the carpets are terrible in most units (I've covered as many of mine as possible with rugs), the cabinets and countertops are also very dated and show the toll of years in their appearance. The lack of overhead lighting is also problematic, there isn't any in the living room or bedrooms, and the kitchen is only poorly lit. Management needs to seriously invest in renovating apartments individually as they are vacant or they risk Hunter Ridge being permanently out of date and undesirable compared to other living options in Bloomington. We also need another recycling bin, it's always full and on the far side of the complex!

While some of the fittings, interior decoration, and appliances are a little worn and out-of-date, the one-bedroom apartment is large and very comfortable for a single person. Well insulated, the apartment is never too hot or cold. I have needed a couple of very small fixes and these have been completed promptly.
