McCormick Theological Seminary, IL

McCormick Theological Seminary, located in the Hyde Park area of Chicago, traces its history to 1829, when it opened as a preparatory school in Hanover, Indiana for prospective Presbyterian ministers who were to serve the western frontier of the U.S. When the frontier moved, McCormick also pushed its campus and student living west to its current location, Bordering the University of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois. Penned in by three popular parks, the seminary is surrounded by the attractions and lifestyle hubs that support student living in the city. The school, one of eleven schools of theology of the Presbyterian Church, serves about 200 graduate students each year from a number of Christian denominations with a large breadth of educational resources and options for off campus housing.

A student to faculty ratio of about 10 to 1 makes one-on-one consultation and mentoring a large part of student living at McCormick Theological Seminary. Professors specialize in a number of disciplines related to Religious Studies, giving those in student housing a variety of academic options. In particular, the school offers Masters degrees of Theology, Arts in Discipleship Development, Arts in Urban Ministry, Theological Studies and Divinity, as well as a Doctor of Ministry degree.

By renting a college apartment, students are able to enjoy a long list of attractions in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood. Midway Plaisance Park bridges Jackson and Washington Parks to form a large green space near the seminary that is ideal for rest and recreation during the leisure hours. In addition, off campus housing is near Doc Films, the Medici restaurant and the 59th Street L stop.
