A first-rate community, with very professional management and maintenance staff. High quality apartment interior. Really like the game room, plus the convenience of the exercise room. Lived in a lot of communities but this is one of the very best.
living here at Yorktown apartments is a very positive experience.
the grounds are kept very neat, as is the building they're always keeping it clean by mopping sweeping and vacuuming the hallways and elevators.
the laundry facilities are also very neat and well maintained.
I would highly recommend to friends and colleagues that Yorktown apartments are a fine place to live
Been here for 2yrs and it is bittersweet. From my experience, yes, the community is between good and great. However, there are too many nuisances which brings everything down. First is the pricing which represent "market" value which is subject to definition. Currently, the old apartments (which I live in) is old meaning spotty wall paint, ancient outlets, mismatched doors, missing ceiling lights, old appliances and bathroom fixtures, etc. This doesn't include the big problem items like having to pay for parking which is not part of the rental rate, water utility is shared meaning regardless if you use any, you will have to pay according to what the building uses, lied about individual unit water heater which I learned 6 months later through an issue that its a shared, there can only be AC or Heat depending on scheduled time of the year, 3 total elevators (1 freight, 2 normal) and the 2 normal are constantly in repair, shared ventilation meaning you can have odors coming from anywhere on the floor into your unit, no active ventilation for cooking meaning if you don't turn on your cooking fan when cooking; which just blows into your kitchen; the fire alarm goes off, bad water drainage, hot water takes 5+ minutes of constant running to come on in the kitchen, individuals are inviting friends/family every weekend to the pool area making it completely packed with non-residences (pool area is really nice though), there are many more little issues but in the end it isn't worth it for me to live here. On a $1350/month rent, expect to pay close to $1500/month when you include everything you have to pay (not including your cable, ComEd electric - you have 2 electric bills, and anything else not part of the building).
Great place to live
Great community, glad to be a part of it!
