All About

Living in Institute for Clinical Social Work, IL

Established in 1981, the Institute for Clinical Social Work (ICSW) is the nation's only independent and accredited institution of higher education with a doctoral program in clinical social work - making it the premier destination for practicing clinicians. The school's stated mission is to "advance knowledge in the field of clinical social work; advance the quality of clinical social work practice; and serve a diverse community through professional and academic contributions." Currently, the ICSW is housed in downtown Chicago, but it is expanding throughout the nation thanks to its 2007 distance learning program - combining online coursework with on-campus programs. ICSW is home to about 90 students and 40 faculty members.

Students living in a student apartment or off campus apartment while attending ICSW have access to the school's four degree options including Ph.D.s in Clinical Social Work in the Standard Track, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, School Social Work and Child and Adolescent Social Work - available to campus and distance learning students.

Student living and university living at the ICSW provide students with the unique advantage of earning a doctorate without abandoning their professional work. The school's location in Chicago also allows students access to the city's various commercial, educational, recreational and cultural landmarks like the Chicago River, Lake Michigan, Willis Tower, Navy Pier, the Loop, Wrigley Field and the Field Museum.
