Do not sign a lease here. The apartment was nice enough for a quickly flipped apartment but I have been dealing with nothing but troubles since I moved in and moved out. They sent many unexplained bills. After moving out, they sent a fee to a collection agency even though we stopped by the desk and asked three times if we had any outstanding fees or if there was anything else we needed to do before moving out. We received an email two months after we moved out saying we had an outstanding balance but when we logged in to the SCIO website, the balance was $0. We emailed the property manager to ask about the fee and never heard back from them. Instead, we just had a collection agency reach out without any explanation of what the fee was, why we were charged, or why SCIO had not included a description of the fee. Seriously unprofessional and unacceptable.
Scio at the Medical District presented me with every imaginable feature(s) available to the sophisticated urban dweller. This would be a spendid place to live!
DO NOT SIGN: The apartment is beautiful; however, the contracts are unethical. And don't be fooled by the amenities, they make you pay for them in the end.
I finished my intern year early. So, according to contract, I found a subletter. The office sent my subletter an incorrect and more expensive contract three times before finally letting her sign.
After the contracts were signed SCIO refused to release me from the contract.
I asked to settle my account before leaving Chicago. They refused again.
So, although I won't live there for five months (and my subletter signed the same contract) I'm still liable for rent and any damages.
It is simply UNETHICAL to refuse to release someone from a contract and make them liable months after they've moved. They are far too willing to take advantage of their young tenants.
I'll keep you posted on what happens in the next few months.
Would not recommend it to even my worst enemy . Poor management . Takes 3 service requests to get anything done. Frequent water shut downs and heating/ cooling issues. Don't get tricked my the renovated deal
Absolutely horrible. Avoid this building at all costs. Once you sign the lease dont expect any service or maintenance. Construction noise starts at 7 AM! Staff doesnt return phone calls. Dryers dont work. Heat is inadequate.
