Northwest Nazarene University, ID

Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho, was founded in 1913 as an elementary school, but within two years of opening, added high school and college-level courses. The school was accredited as a junior college in 1931 and earned its four-year accreditation a few years later in 1937. Now, NNU has a total enrollment of 1,330 students, so class sizes are small. With a 13 to one student to teacher ratio, students are sure to get individualized attention from their professors in all of their classes.

The Christian-centered school offers a variety of majors for students to pursue, including more popular majors such as Business/Commerce, Elementary Education and Teaching, and Health and Physical Education. The school offers plenty of on campus student housing, but nearly half of NNU students choose off campus living. The NNU Crusaders compete in the NCAA on the Division II level in basketball, golf, baseball, softball, soccer, volleyball and more.

The city of Nampa is a stone's throw from Boise, and is one of the fastest growing cities in the state. Nampa boasts 24 different parks, the largest of which being Lakeview Park. This is the oldest natural park in the city, and the scenic location is a great spot for a picnic on a warm, sunny day.

Students who prefer the urban environment will love that NNU is located right downtown, giving them plenty of options to find a college apartment nearby the campus. NNU is also within two miles of Lake Lowell, so those who enroll at the school may be able to find student housing with a view overlooking the water.
