University of West Georgia, GA

The University of West Georgia was founded in 1906, although it was then known as West Georgia College. Since then, the school has become a full four-year institution and part of the Georgia state school program, offering students all the proclivities of campus life like student housing, athletics, extracurricular activities and more.

One of the school's presidents had a notable impact on the institution. James Boyd became president in 1961. His tenure was most notable for voluntarily and peacefully integrating the campus, acting before the state issued a court order. He also convinced Robert Kennedy to visit the school and named the chapel after John F. Kennedy shortly after the President died.

Today, the University of West Georgia has made a name for itself through its academics, attracting students from all over the country, many of whom choose to rent off campus housing. The Princeton Review has picked the school as one of the top Southeastern Colleges in the country for six straight years.

The university's location in Carrollton is another attractive part about this school. This town is located approximately 45 miles west of Atlanta, meaning that students will never run out of things to do and see. Off campus apartments can make it easier for students to plan trips on the weekends to this exciting metropolis. In addition, university apartments give students a bit more freedom and independence, while also allowing them to enjoy everything that Carrollton has to offer.
