Oglethorpe University, GA

Tucked away in quiet neighborhood in northern Atlanta sits Oglethorpe University, a private liberal arts college that has quite a few quirks. The college was founded in 1935 and named after James Edward Oglethorpe, who is credited as the founder of Georgia. Today, it draws students from around the country, many of whom choose to rent university apartments.

One of the most famous aspects of Oglethorpe's history is the Crypt of Civilization, which is an airtight chamber buried beneath the college. The Guinness Book of World Records calls this room the "first and most complete" time capsule in the world, and it contains donated artifacts encompassing nearly all aspects of civilization. Don't get your hopes up for a private viewing, however - it's not scheduled to be open until 8113.

Student living at Oglethorpe is nearly as eclectic as the contents of the famous time capsule. Many obviously choose to rent off campus apartments and enjoy the surrounding city of Atlanta. There's definitely many benefits to living in a college apartment in this great city, as there's so much to see and do - from watching the Braves and Falcons play to touring the Coca-Cola headquarters or visiting CNN.

There are plenty of university apartments near Oglethorpe as well. It makes sense to remain near campus, as it plays host to the Georgia Shakespeare theatre troupe as well as a stunning museum of art.
