The Terrace Apartments
This building, as home to middle Georgia's most stylish and upscale people, had all the latest conveniences, such as a refrigerator for every apartment, elevators, tile baths with a circulating hotel type hot water system, steam heat, and even an incinerator in the basement for burning garbage. The building still has all these things, including the incinerator in the basement. It is too heavy to move but its use is now outlawed! The Terraces renovation has won awards from Newtown Macon and has been placed on the National Register of Historic Buildings.
