I love living downtown Macon. As a female I am often asked if I feel safe and I must say I have never felt like I was in a threatening evironment. The location is awesome, it's not right in the gut of it all but it is close enough you can walk. I have lived in the BL in the past and moved back because I had such a great experience. The staff is terrific! I do wish that we had a up to date gym/recreational area.
I have lived here for almost 4 years and have never had any problems. Maintenance issues are addressed quickly, property staff are extremely nice and helpful, and I have always felt safe.
As a potential resident, I received the runaround more than once to include misinformation about availability, office hours and pricing. The office seemed to be more concerned with receiving my deposit than affording me an opportunity to actually view the property that I would be paying for. All of my communications were professional/respectful and direct so I am unsure why our interactions were so inconsistent and unprofessional.
This place is a decent first apartment, but if you live under or OVER loud neighbors, its a total NO GO. The walls are superrrrr thin! You can hear everything (literally EVERYTHING) through them and its ridiculous.. make a noise complaint? It seems to not get you anywhere because the same stuff will continue to happen.. people arent respectful of their neighbors that might have classes or work early in the am. I will be so happy when we move, we will NOT be renewing the lease. The windows are not sealed so bugs and wasps can come through your windows anytime.. tried to get maintenance to come and have a look... the middle age black guy says I dont see any where that they can get in and I know for a FACT I can spot at least 5 areas where they can creep right in. Parking is not okay. Theres been some car break ins and some unsettling stories about people being followed into the building. The lofts themselves LOOK nice but totally not worth the money. It might just depends on what part of the building you live in (you might have a kind of quiet spot) but where I live... terrible. Ive witnessed people move in one month and move out the next couple of months. But hey, dont let the pretty pictures fool you.. the actual experience of living here isnt cute all the time. Again, will be moving

The Happ Brothers Manufacturing Building (circa 1916) was converted to state-of-the-art apartments by McCarty Property Group in 2001. This National Register historic structure was thereby saved from demolition and retrofitted with 95 unique dwellings serviced by two interior courtyards and a rooftop deck. A change in ownership took place during September 2013 in which the building and associated private parking was acquired by Aderhold Properties, Inc. The new ownership also owns and operates TERRACE APARTMENTS and KATHERINE COURT, historic apartments located on Mulberry Street, all within walking distance of downtown restaurants, Mercer University School of Law, and the Medical Center of Central Georgia.
