Our experience with Montclair has been wonderful so far. We all visited a Saturday, Graduation weekend with my daughter and three of her roommates. It was late afternoon, no appointment made yet Amy their leasing agent gave us the grand tour, spent time chatting with the girls about their studies and really took the time to share why the place would be a great choice. Our entire experience has been nothing less than professional, promote and easy. This far we give Gables a 5+ star.

RUN AWAY.. DON'T WALK ...RUN! AWFUL, AWFUL..AWFUL. WHERE DO I BEGIN...IMPORTANT YOU READ THIS - I currently live here. 1.)The maintenance people are nice, but their competency is in serious question. I first got in and the apartment wasn't really ready. LED Light missing (I mentioned that 3 times before I moved in ) This is important because if a light bulb blows out - they will charge you to change it if 30 days has gone by. The light over the oven was off and on too. But the kicker is - The refrigerator was put in wrong. YES THE REFRIGERATOR. You could only open the door half way without it BANGING against the wall! You could only use the top two shelves of the refrigerator. I had to ask them to come in and address the issue and "move" the refrigerator to the proper place SO I COULD USE IT. .2.) THE GARAGE DOOR. It took them about a week to finally give me my garage door opener. Then IT DIDN'T WORK. WOULD NOT OPEN THE GARAGE. They said they "reprogrammed it" and it would finally open the garage door. ..but so could other tenents..MY GARAGE DOOR WOULD CONSTANTLY COME OPEN ALL OF THE TIME. I would come home from the store.. GARAGE DOOR OPEN.. I would come home from work...GARAGE DOOR OPEN..I would get up in the morning..GARAGE DOOR OPEN. each time I was told "let us reprogram it." They said they had a 3rd party come in and "they fixed it." NOPE.. GARAGE DOOR "STILL" COMING OPEN. I asked if it was programmed when my neighbor opened theirs and I was told "That is so rare, like hitting the lottery!" FOR TWO MONTHS MY GARAGE DOOR WOULD RANDOMLY COME OPEN. I had to get an extra security alarm for the garage door because there is no deadbolt and it was very easy to access the house. And complete access to the storage unit. After two months, they "reprogrammed" a new garage door opener, once again. Then - two weeks later sent me an email saying they fixed it and it was happening when my next door neighbor opened his. WHAT? INCOMPETENCE AT IT'S BEST!! OH THERE'S MORE.

Pricey, but the complex is beautiful, well-kept, and very close to Emory. Walking distance to some good restaurants, and also close to Downtown Decatur (great little area). Staff are kind and helpful. Had a few maintenance issues at move-in, but these were addressed very quickly. Overall, Gables Montclair is a nice, quiet spot that is especially well-suited for grad students or young professionals.

Although rent is somewhat expensive, proximity to transit, work, and restaurants makes the apartment complex's location ideal.
