Don't expect the Post to lift a finger for you if something serious happens. A pipe burst behind my toilet while I was at work, and I came home to every inch of my apartment covered in water with plenty of ruined belongings. The complex was 100% responsible for the flooding. The property manager handled the entire situation so poorly by not communicating well at all, and tended to be wrong about whatever she did tell me. I was not able to stay in my apartment for a week, and the Post did nothing to offer a temporary living arrangement and kept telling me "we'll speak about compensation after everything". That compensation amounted to them ONLY offering to pay the increase of my electric bill for the 5 industrial fans that ran 96 hours, which amounts to around $30. They still expect me to pay full rent, even for the days I couldn't live there, and are not covering my insurance deductible. All I asked for was those 3 things - not having to pay rent for those days, the $250 deductible, and the increase in the electric bill. In my opinion, that's a pretty basic request considering the situation. Not to mention the dozens of hours I had to spend going through the claims process, getting my apartment ready for the new carpeting (was told I had to do this at noon the day before), and commuting from much further away. This is all on top of dealing with an extremely unprofessional and uncaring property manager. They even tried to say that we could live in the apartment during the process, but anybody that walked in there could see that it was not habitable with the dehumidifiers hooked to the sink and furniture stacked in the kitchen/bathroom. I just did not expect such awful customer service from something that was no fault of my own and caused such an inconvenience
Apartments are small, lighting is horrible, the new kitchen upgrades are ugly, my mirror is scratched and dirty, outlets don't work. I have had multiple problems and I have only lived here 6 months. The gate never works; I had to park at the gym and walk to our apartment on more than one occasion. There are carpenter bees all over the property. The finish on my bathtub came completely off!!!! They offered to fix it but who has the time and ability to not shower for 4 days while it dries. SO INCONVENIENT!!!!! The most recent problem is what made me write this review. Their Rent Cafe website malfunctioned on the 1st and 2nd of the month, they informed us through email only that we would need to bring in a paper check. As I was out of town I was unable to do so. THEN THEY CHARGED ME A LATE FEE. $107!!! They refused to reimburse me and then threatened to evict me if I did not pay by the next day. No one in the leasing office is friendly. They treat you like you're the inconvenience. The only good part about living here is it is close to my work.
Bottom line - The location is the best and only good thing about this apartment complex. If location is the most important thing to you and you are willing to compromise on everything else, then this is the place for you.Post Brookhaven has been under new management since last year. The downfall of this apartment complex is the change in the management company. (I lived here in 2011 and I loved it.) Fast forward to October 2017 and I moved back, into a "renovated" apartment. Essentially it's lipstick on a pig for ~$200 increase in rent. My favorite renovations are replacing the light fixture in the kitchen but seeing stains on the ceiling where the old one was. And instead of replacing light switches, putting a cheap cover over them that makes it hard to turn the lights on and off. And don't forget painting the sinks and tubs, so it can start to peel after a month of use.According to a previous maintenance worker, The old management company was in the process of replacing/fixing and keeping up general maintenance of the older complex when MAA took over and shifted resources to cheap upgrades.I have read the other Google Reviews and they are legit. The amentities they charge for are a joke - grills removed, rotting wood for tables, seats and swings, nothing replaced. In fact, I have had some of the same experiences myself (e.g. Multiple maintenance requests to fix the same problem because they didn't get it right the first time and some things just not getting fixed at all). Here are some highlights of my stay thus far:- For maintenance requests, they entered my apartment multiple times without permission (I have 2 dogs).- The first time I went to turn the heat on, it didn't work.- The water was turned off with no warning (as I write this review I am waiting for maintenance to respond and turn it on).
