The air conditioning issue in my apartment has now been fixed by the new management, and I am once again glad to be a resident of this building and would like to remove my previous review from 4/11/2019.
I am an 8 year resident of this building. My central air conditioning unit stopped working last August and has not been fixed. I was continuously told that they were waiting for parts, I'd be updated soon, etc. It is now 7 months later, and I am once again told that the building is waiting on parts from a vendor and no one can tell me when these parts might arrive. At least 10 other apartments lost their AC last summer. Prospective residents should be aware that each apartment has an individual AC unit, the units are old, and if they break, they currently have no way of fixing them.
The buildings are fine but the management is TERRIBLE. I had many problems with them during the course of the 8 months I lived there in 2018. They frequently close this office during the stated office hours to get lunch or coffee. I heard them talking to each other about it while in the lobby once. They also frequently close the office earlier than the stated hours so anyone that works a 9-5 job has absolutely no chance of getting them in person unless you take a day off work. When you do email them (because as I said its impossible to find them if you work 9-5) they are not helpful. When I was moving out they kept forgetting to bring my move out checklist to me and I emailed multiple times to finally get the checklist the day I was moving out. This meant I did not have time to go through it with them because you have to schedule an appointment for that even though there were 2 employees working in the office doing nothing else that day. As a result I was charged around $400 because there was a small bleached spot of carpet in the closet underneath the stair. 1. I do not own bleach, no have I ever. 2. Why does it matter if its in a utility closet underneath the stairs? Another problem I had was when I accidentally sent a package to my old address and I called them to ask if they could please check to see if it arrived (I had delivery confirmation) and if so I would arrange for a friend who still lived in the area to come pick it up. They supposedly reached out to the current resident who did not respond. Fine. But I asked if they could walk LITERALLY ACROSS THE STREET to the actual building to check because usually packages are delivered to the mail area of that building and they did not do so. They stated no packages had arrived for me at the office. They were grossly unaware of the fact that packages for the 93 building dont even go to the office. They never did for the entire time I lived there. Lazy, arrogant, unhelpful.
Very responsive; invested in the tenants and in maintaining a safe, clean environment.
We had already seen the apartment layout on-line & we had scheduled an appointment 9:00am on a Saturday morning to see a unit. However, the girl was only willing to show us the layout on the computer (I got up early on a Saturday morning for this???). We could have looked at the layout again from any computer. WE WERE THERE TO SEE THE APARTMENT!
Then, they tried to quote us a higher rent amount than what they had stated just 3 days prior to us going in & wasting part of a Saturday morning. Regardless, we were still considering renting an apartment until...
We heard a current tenant talking to a maintenance man regarding her air conditioning had yet to work since she had moved in 6 to 7 weeks prior to our visit. It was late last month & she was concerned that her air conditioning would still not be working when July began. She had made numerous requests to have her air conditioning repaired, but the requests had fallen on deaf ears.
Between not being able to see the unit in person, the suspicious practice of changing the rent amount at the last minute (of the multiple apartments we have considered, Eaves was the only 1 that tried to change the rent amount) & the unresponsiveness of tenants' concerns being addressed, it became clear to us that we needed to eliminate Eaves Apartments from consideration.
We have found another apartment & will be moving into it soon.
