Located in Hershey, Pennsylvania, the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is one of the state’s three medical schools and university hospitals located outside of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. Part of the Pennsylvania State University educational system, the medical center was founded in 1967, along with a teaching hospital and research center. Today, Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is one of the state’s largest producers of physicians and the source of student living for scholars who study a wide variety of medical fields. Each year, more than 550 resident physicians are trained in various medical specialties at the medical center. In addition, the school offers two postdoctoral programs which culminate with an M.S. degree in Public Health Sciences or in Laboratory Animal Medicine - the only such program of this type offered in Pennsylvania.
