Simpson University, CA

Simpson University, founded in Seattle in 1921, today rests in the California town of Redding, offering off campus housing to about 1,300 students who attend classes at the school. The private institution opened as a Christian Evangelist college, but joined with a liberal arts platform in 1971, and moved to Redding in 1989. Current students enjoy a diverse curriculum and many rent a college apartment to reap the benefits of a small California town that boasts entertainment and recreation along the Sacramento River.

University living at Simpson for undergraduates includes a degree program through one of the school’s three divisions: Theology and Ministry, Science and Business, and Humanities. Graduate students can also earn degrees in education and Christian Ministry. In addition, the new A.W. Tozer Theological Seminary, which opened in 2007 to grant graduate degrees in divinity and leadership, has increased interest in university housing near Simpson.
