Not recommend. Management is lacking at solving issues such as noise control btw units. There is also construction next door constantly generating noise during business hours. If you are a dog owner, be aware! Some people here don't clean up after their dogs so I don't take my dog to the courtyard because I am afraid to be blamed for someone else's mess. Plus there is constant fire alarm which normally people don't even bother to evacuate since this happens so often. If real fire happens in this building I am pretty sure there will be some consequences. Overall not well managed and I am not recommend to anyone.

We asked for the precise amount to pay when we moved out and they told us one number, then kept the majority of our deposit to pay for additional fees, including a very high water bill that they did not tell us when we asked, a paint job even though we had not done anything to the walls, and an additional day of rent even when we moved out on time. The management was unhelpful and argumentative, saying that these costs are justified to "return the apartment back to its original conditions" when in fact the law says that the deposit should only be used if damage exceeds normal wear and tear. During our time at Soma, we also found that the humidity would get trapped in the walls, leading to the growth of mold which we had to clean frequently. I would not recommend living here again.

***1AM and 3-5 AM LOUD DAILY NOISE on Harrison St*** I have been working from home since March, the pandemic has unfortunately turned me into a light sleeper. Twice a week Recology picks up trash around 1AM (think loud clanking metal noise). In addition, Whole foods deliveries start at 3AM daily (yes, daily). I contacted the building management and asked to be relocated to a different unit not facing Harrison St (I have been in my current one since November 2014). I was told they would inform me once they have units available (snapshot attached). That never happened. I just checked the company website and noticed EIGHT(453 sq ft) units available (image attached). I called to ask if I could relocate to units that are available since the noise is obviously still an issue. The property manager informed me that it was not likely that the property management would allow me to relocate and if I am able to do so it will be with a relocation fee. After 5 years of guaranteed annual revenue to SOMA 788 instead of getting a "thanks for being a loyal tenant", I am unable to get quality sleep without earplugs, background music and 6mg of melatonin every single night.
