The price is good, but their customer service is not very good at seeing from the perspective of the customer. I will say I was also at fault because I have social anxiety and when they said they would give back the deposit and not the application fee, I said it was fine, but everything was not fine. Over email I tried to get back the application fee but they would not give it back.
So let me explain further, when you are picking an apartment online, they give you the date, and you can change the date. I am a student, so I need exactly 10 months starting from September. There was a unit available for August, but on the side, you can choose when to start the date, and of course, I choose September. When I applied, I was notified there would be an application fee of $35 per person, and I applied for both me and my partner, so I paid $70 in application fee, along with the deposit. There was a summary of the transaction to the left when I paid, and it says the move in date is for September 1, for a 10 month lease, for the price that it was. I paid thinking everything was good because the terms are easy to understand. It is simple.
A few days later they messaged me (kind of rudely too, no apology(although later they 'apologized for the misconception' but I still did not get the application fee back), made it seem like it was my fault for changing the date) that the date was set for August and I can't change it. When I paid, the date said September because the system allowed me to choose it. I don't think it was my fault for paying what I thought would be starting in September. They gave me the offer that I start in August or they could refund the deposit, but not the application fee. I don't understand why not the application fee too because their website messed up and allowed me to sign believing the date starts in September.
Cherylle helped us a lot during the site visit and together with Broderick had been very helpful in processing our application. They have very good staff and the community is just awesome.
Great manager and staff
The people running La Jolla Canyon Apartments have been awesome since the day I called to inquire about their single bedroom apartments. The front office has been very helpful with all of my questions and concerns. In addition the maintenance crew has an extremely fast response time and are very friendly. The apartments are in good condition and the community is very peaceful.
The management is very nice, but extremely uninvolved. As for maintenance, going through requesting through the website is very annoying and time consuming and in the end completely pointless. Why? Because if you elect to set up an appointment with maintenance as to have them come when you are in the unit, you have to talk with the office anyway. The whole this is utterly non-sensical.
