What Renters Like and Dislike

What Renters Like and Dislike About Oakland

It's close to a lot of good stores and restaurants. It's safe to walk around during the day. The weather is good.

My neighborhood is safe and I can allow my kids to play outside without constant supervision. I feel safe walking around and the people are friendly and diverse.

I currently reside in the Lake Merritt/Uptown district of Oakland. I am within walking distance of the courthouse; yet there is no noticable increase of police presence. The crime level is currently low (as far as I've been informed). I do reside in an older building which at one point may have been the apple of many eyes. But now it is saved mainly because it provides affordable rent for many who would not otherwise be able to afford such placement.

I like living next to the reseve area. I get to see various persns and groups who use the area to gather and go for hikes. The local businesses include pizza, grocery, sandwich shops where I can meet my friends.

I honestly drive to Alameda for everything. The Quikstop on the corner isn't exacly a family haunt. The Lake Merritt neighborhood is noce, though it is not my neighborhood.

We have a McDonald's so that is the best we can ask .The bars are very less but we have nice restaurant that sell beer.
