National Hispanic University, CA

In 1981, National Hispanic University opened in California with the mission of sparking successful careers and academic success in the country's Hispanic community. Throughout the years, the institution has made this mission a reality by catering to Hispanics of all backgrounds and age groups, as well as reaching out to attract a broad range of students from all ethnic groups. In addition to providing an excellent education and instilling meaningful career skills, the university has brought its students to a comfortable community and cozy apartments in East San Jose, California, where nature and entertainment co-mingle in the cityscape.

Today, about 700 undergraduate students attend classes at National Hispanic University, many of them commuting from apartments that are conveniently located near the campus. NHU offers associates and bachelors degrees in Business, Computer Information Systems, Liberal Studies, Math and Science, Early Childhood Education and Teaching Credentials. The school's founder, Dr Roberto Cruz, modeled the school largely on the historic impact of predominately black colleges and universities that predated NHU.
