Though the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley has been in California since 1934, it continues to develop new ways to best accommodate and educate interested students. For example, in 2009, the institution merged with nearby Santa Clara University, and is now known as the Jesuit School of Theology of Santa Clara University. The affiliation retains the school's status as a member of the Graduate Theological Union and as one of the prominent theological schools in the US, and invites prospective students to apartments in the exciting area that surrounds JST.
