The craftsmanship of the units is so shoddy that things broke constantly. Hinges broke off, the shower faucet wouldnt turn off, for the first month or so there was a constant smell of mildew in the bathroom, and the racks in the closet barely hung on. The fixtures in the show units were completely different from the unit we wound up renting. The show unit had high quality, solid fixtures and appliances, while the fixtures in the rental units are plastic and poor quality.
The lack of dedication to the quality of the units extends to the structure itself. The entire unit is not level, but it is not uniformly unlevel. The floor is slanted one direction and the counter is in another. The windows and the ceilings are slanted by yet a different amount, in some cases, in a different direction. Its as if the entire unit was put together free-hand, without any real measurements or levels.
Then there were the antsoh lord the ants. We had a second-floor unit and they would come in from the baseboards in the bedroom, closet, bathroom, living room, and kitchen. I reported the infestation multiple times and they sent an exterminator, but all he was allowed to do was spray some solution, which did absolutely nothing. He actually told me that if I really wanted to get rid of them, I should go buy Terro Liquid Ant Baits from Orchard Supply Hardware. At one point, I found a hole in the baseboards that ants were pouring out of. It took five days and four gel traps to kill them all, and we still saw them occasionally.
Our experience with Fosters Landing has been nothing but horrible, and while they claim their prices are fair and their raises standard, for what they offer, they are not. You can get a much better deal at other places in the area. The reason my wife and I moved out was because we bought a three bed/two bath house in San Mateo. Our mortgage is around $100 less than what Fosters Landing is charging for our one bed/one bath apartment.
other than rent everything excellent
Lovely community, easily accessible to locations, clean and spacious.
I have read various reviews of this complex on Yelp; I have been a resident for 9 months and my personal experience has been that the current staff has been very courteous and professional in every interaction I have had with them, including looking at apartments initially, to signing lease, to very courteous maintenance personnel, and including timeliness with follow-up on minor maintenance issues I have needed repairs on. It is expensive to live here, but I have been very satisfied with my experience, thus far.
Foster's Landing has provided me with a safe, quiet and well kept surrounding with easy accessibility to freeways, shopping, walking trails and parks. The apartment offers a comfortable home environment with newly updated interior and appliances. The garage and parking have adequate space and ease of use. I have enjoyed my experience here and hope to stay indefinitely.
