For nearly 160 years, students have moved into apartments in Montgomery, Alabama, in order to live near the college of their choice, Huntingdon College. Through the school’s long history, it has transformed from “Tuskegee Female College” of its early days to the co-ed institution of higher learning that today continues to place an emphasis on the teachings of the United Methodist Church. The Montgomery campus features a Gothic style, epitomized by Flowers Memorial Hall, that is characteristically collegiate. But some students at Huntingdon college choose to live off-campus apartments that allow them to engage with their surrounding community.

While the school attracts more than 1,000 students each you with a diversity of interests, Huntingdon College is perhaps best known for its religion and history departments. Students who enroll here attend a school that is consistently ranked by the Princeton Review as one of the Southeast’s top liberal arts schools. Of course, the social life is also an appeal to finding an apartment near Huntingdon College. One of the college’s oldest traditions is the Annual Oracle Hunt - a quirky scavenger hunt for upperclassmen in which participants try to find the “oracle,” that has been hidden in the same secret location since the 1950s.

Students of HC who rent nearby apartments also have easy access to many of Montgomery’s greatest treasures. The Wynton M. Blount Cultural Park, which includes the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, is an area of particular interest.
