I like the fact that the staff take the time to get to know youand treat you with respect, more like a friend. The location is perfect, everything is in walking distance.
No one from 3 of 4 apts I tried to contact ever returned my calls. The Benton sent an email and did not respond to my reply or my voice mail. All apts listed furnished, short-term and only one apt that I was able to contact said they did not have furnished or short-term as advertised. Time spent researching was time wasted.
BEWARE of this place! They advertise as a luxury apartment but they are not. Old buildings and facilities layered in paint to spruce it up. The rent seems reasonable for what you get until you pay over $70/month for the water bill and $180/month for the power bill for a 1 bedroom apartment with 1 person. Multiple inquiries into the high utility costs were ignored by management.
The employees are very helpful and friendly until you sign the lease, but then customer service significantly diminishes, unless it is related to your contract or payment of rent. Be mindful of clear communication in writing (or emails) as they will not be flexible or honor previous verbal conversations.
As a professional businessman who has leased many apartments I could not in good faith recommend the Benton to anyone. For your sake, you may want to consider looking elsewhere.
This property is the worst. Do not live here!! The manager at the time my family moved in was nice at first. I had problems from the first day I moved in. Water was leaking from the upstairs apt down the wall into the living room area. I couldn't move in, maintenance said they didn't have a key so I had to wait another day pay more money to movers, etc. Next there was mold in the cabinet and only one person was sent to wipe it out. It was not handled at all and I never used the cabinet.The newly installed bathroom accessories were falling off the wall, the shower heads were not working. My kitchen sink and the bottom storage were rotted out and finally after about 3 months the bottom storage wood was replaced along with a new sink faucet because it was leaking. Then suddenly the rent was jacked up over $200 dollars, management said it was the water bill. Soon many neighbors started to move, some who had lived there over 14 years. The manager was fired and someone new was assigned. They never tried to get the rent or the problems corrected. Every month there was a problem, and the last was the toilet from upstairs was leaking down into my bedroom and bathroom. They didn't want to come and clean the bathroom or wet vac the floor. Soon feces was backing up in the tub and I was gone. I am not sure about the new management but this was one of the most horrible experiences my family has encountered.
