Living in Alaska

Alaska's major cities

Home of the Iditarod
Alaska is also well known for the Iditarod, a sled dog race that covers more than 1100 miles. Mushers and their teams leave Anchorage to cross the Alaskan terrain to the coveted victory in Nome. For more sled dog racing in addition to carnival rides, exhibits, shows, sports, a parade and festivities, check out the Fur Rondy in Anchorage. And, in the summer, don't miss out on the Alaska State Fair.
Legendary natural beauty
There is no doubt about it, the state of Alaska is beautiful. From glaciers and crystal waters to mountains and forests, the state does not lack views of nature at its finest. Denali National Park is one of the most popular outdoor attractions in the state and houses the tallest peak in North America - Mount McKinley. Or, take in the views along the coastline at Glacier Bay National Park.
