Make sure you call or go online two months in advance to get moving estimates, reserve your truck rental or book long distance movers.
Schedule to disconnect all utility services.
Put together a list of all moving supplies needed. These should include boxes, tape, labels or markers, and scissors.
Check with your insurance company and make sure you understand what's covered during your move.
Fill out a change of address form available at any post office. Notify friends, family and others of your new address.
Notify your bank and credit card companies of your new address.
Fill out an IRS change of address form.
Identify a storage company near you in case you need one.
If you're moving in-state, find out where, and how to change your address on your driver's license.
Notify your kids' schools and have their records transferred to their new schools.
