Charter Oak is a dog-friendly complex. We live in a 1-bdrm Terrace apt. with our Great Pyrenees. The huge floor-to-ceiling windows are wonderful - so much light streams in. The apt. is huge (900+sq. ft.) for a 1-bdrm! A short walk to the park, a golf course, and the Reston Town Center. Incredibly quiet complex. The staff is always helpful and friendly, and the grounds are immaculate.
I love the area. Having a gym is pretty common, it should be included. A pool is nice. Possible additional guest spots, in other locations.
Buildings have very thick walls compared to many "contemporary" apartment buildings, which makes them much quieter than most in this area. Depending on your apartment's location, beautiful views are available. The maintenance team is top-notch, and the office staff has been consistently helpful and courteous.
The office staff are very polite and more personable than at other apartment complexes that I've lived at; the grounds are maintained well and I've seen them making improvements to make them even better; the maintenance staff are super friendly and responsive to requests.
What I like - convenient location, upscale nhood, great views, lots of trees, big floor-ceiling windows, very efficient maintenance
What I dislike - crime on the rise, 20-somethings partying every weekend, difficulty in getting obvious things accomplished with staff
